THE CHALLENGE:

Searching for a better performing material

VPLAST SOLUTION:

The customer came to us to print articles from moulds he had made from ABS. 
Through a material study, we proposed an alternative, Nylon, as it was more impact resistant, but at the same time had a higher shrinkage index than ABS (twice as high).
Through a thorough examination of the processing cycle, we solved the problem of higher post-moulding shrinkage.
The desire to improve further led us to continue the search for an alternative material that was equally high-performing, but offered savings to the customer in terms of both economy and cycle time. 
Working with our partners, we were able to find a variant of Nylon that had, for the same mechanical characteristics, a lower shrinkage index and a faster cycle time, so as to guarantee a further -20% reduction in production time.
